Thanks Gilma, that sounds like there's some variability in these flowers to me.

Tom15, I just build a home in Costa Rica and I just happened to be at the nursery to buy plants and trees, one of my favorites plants is "Passion Flower" I got the red one and when I mention I would like a Blue/purple one, they said those are different they give you fruit, granadilla, I have eaten those in my childhood in CR and they are good. It seems they are different in certain ways as in giving fruit! and it is huge, watermelon size!!.. My red one faces up but I run into some wild ones (red) and they were facing down?! Hope this helps.. : )

Gilma, the flowers on this vine were facing down like in the picture. Most of the ones I see are facing up, does that make a difference?

Purple Passion Flower, PASSIFLORA EDULIS, Granadilla. (fruit)
