Red-garted coot

fulica armillata

Description:

This beautiful red-garted coot was calmly swimming together with swams and ducks in one of the ponds of our city's zoo. It beautifully colored beak called the attention of passers by. Also, I was quite sure it was a red-garted coot but because of the bright orange big mark on the beak I doubted. For what I have seen most coots have a have a small orange mark in the middle of the beak but some pictures also show the beak as this one in the picture, so it may be a red-garted coot in the end... Anyway, I thank extra confirmation... =)

Southamerican regions
