Coragyps atratus
Black Vulture with wider and shorter wingspan than the Turkey Vulture. Shorter and wider tail. Black to dark gray fleshy head with gray wingtips.
This one was spotted first at a Elephant Seal carcass on the beach. Hanging out with other Turkey Vultures flying high over some forested hills.
Rare to be seen on the west coast. May have been the same one spotted in Marin Co. last year.
