A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Cicindela campestris
Cicindela campestris, commonly called the green tiger beetle is a widespread Eurasian species of tiger beetle. Both adults and larvae are predators on other invertebrates. The larvae dig a burrow in the ground, often on or near paths to pitfall-trap unwary insects. The adults are sun-loving. They live in places with dry soils (sandy or chalky). Capture their prey - spiders, grasshoppers, ants, butterflies and caterpillars - chasing after them with short flights and long runs.
