Libellula forensis

Description:

Recognized by the eight black spots on the wings. Males also have eight white spots and a powder blue abdomen with pale yellow markings. The total length is 44 to 50 mm.

Habitat:

Spotted in my backyard.

Notes:

Libellula forensis is found west of the Rockies.
