Argus Tortoise Beetle

Description:

Large tortoise beetle species. Larva is yellow/orange in color with black spikes and carries it's frass on it's back (gross.) The beetle is similar in color for this specimen, but it varies greatly.

Habitat:

Larva was found on common milkweed on July 10, which is where it is commonly found, but is said not to be a host. It emerged as a beetle on the 19th.
