Description:

8-10 inch long birds with stubby conical beaks. Males are red-pink while females are gray with olive tinges. Both males and females have 2 white wing bars. Usually seen in small flocks.

Habitat:

Coniferous forest, North America.

Notes:

I've seen this species year-round but more commonly in winter. Often occurs with other Grosbeak species.
