Thopha saccata
Fantastic - the northern double Drummer. Different colouration to the Eastern double drummer found further south, notably the white on parts of thorax and end of the abdomen
Fun fact! Meet the loudest insect in the world! The double drummer cicada from Australia gets its name from the drum like structures on each side of the abdomen of adult males that are used to amplify the sound it produces to attract females. The song of the double drummer is reputed to be the loudest sound of any insect, reaching an earsplitting 120 dB – louder than most rock concerts! https://upload.facebook.com/projectnoah/...
Wonderfully colored Cicada! It looks similar to a female Thopha sessiliba (Northern Double Drummer) but I am not sure it is that species:

Possibly a Macrotristria species.
