Orange cup coral

Balanophyllia elegans

Description:

A stony coral in the family Dendrophylliidae. A small colony found exposed out of water due to an extremely low tide. Their tentacles are retracted while out of the water. My spotting from earlier this year shows the coral under water:https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1320350688

Habitat:

Spotted in a tide pool at Tongue Point Marine Life Sanctuary.
