Hakea decurrens
Small dense shrub. Pic 1 shows 3 separate flowers, the four brown tipped parts of the flower are the anthers and the longer arching filament is the stigma. As the flower opens the stigma brushes past the anthers collecting pollen on its surface but is not receptive until many days later. In this way the stigma acts to transfer and collect pollen but avoids self pollination. Pic 3 shows the thick woody seed capsules, fire is required to split the capsules. As such, this species is reliant on fire for regeneration. Member of the Proteaceae family (related to Grevilea etc.)
