Canis latrans
This is a medium-sized canid whose grizzled coat varies from gray to white to brown to a rusty tan.
A generalist, coyotes can be found in mountains, boreal forest, eastern deciduous forest, and grasslands. They are even becoming common in suburban areas.
Coyotes were native to western North America, but in recent decades this highly adaptable animal has spread east. Some believe that the "eastern" variety may have interbred with wolves and are much larger than their western compatriots as a result. An interesting article about Coy-Wolves can be read at http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2013/02/07/...
It certainly does look like his/her eyes are different color, but I took a look at a zoomed-in view of the original and both eyes have yellow irises with the expected black pupil. This small version just makes it look like the eyes are different colors.
What a beautiful, robust country coyote! Our city coyotes have a lean and hungry look.
you can really see why people think they may have interbred with wolves, lovely photo though
