Giant Milkweed

Calotropis gigantea

Description:

A plant with large green leaves that grows into an irregular shrub. Flowers are lavender in colour. Each flower consists of five pointed petals and a small "crown" rising from the center which holds the stamens, hence the name Crown flower. This plant prefers sunny habitat and is common in costal areas. It is the host plant of Plain tiger and Common tiger butterfly.
