Saw this on my back porch. I noticed it because in the sunlight it looked metallic silver, like a robot spider! I did not see a web.
Orchard orbweavers are variable in their patterning, but they are a very common spider in the area. Does this guy make an orb-shaped web? I'm pretty confident that's what you have here.
