Jumping Spider

Pseudicius philippinensis

Description:

Salticidae; Heliophaninae; Pseudicius; P. philippinensis Prószyński, 1992. The common name of this spider is Philippine Pseudicius Jumper. There is a Wikipedia article (in Dutch, but translates into English using Google Translate) which states pretty much all you need to know to get started with this spider. It explains that it is found in the Philippines (obvious from its name, but it has to be stated) and, importantly, at the bottom of the page in "Categories" it tells us that this spider is endemic to the Philippines. Then, in species.wikimedia.org, the Type Locality is given - Los Baños, Philippines.

Habitat:

Spotted in our backyard on a Guava Tree (Psidium guajava) locally known as Bayabas.

Hi kurtc,
I am astonished to have received two species suggestions from you on the same day, the Red Tent Spider, Cyrtophora unicolor and this one, the Philippine Pseudicius Jumper, Pseudicius philippinensis. Please be assured that I appreciate your help very much and will take steps to update both spottings tomorrow. Thank you.
