Brush rabbit

Sylvilagus bachmani

Description:

Brown rabbit, usually fairly small but this specimen looks to be about 4 lbs, the biggest I've seen around.

Habitat:

Mixed old growth forest, usually in blackerry, salmonberry and other brush and coming out to feed on the clover in the lawn.

Notes:

Various dogs I've had have delighted in keeping the rabbits out of the yard, but, since I no longer have any, this rabbit seems to have made itself comfortable and grown large.
