Golden-Mantled Ground Squirrel

Callospermophilus lateralis

Description:

Small mammal similar in appearance to chipmunks but they do not have facial stripes. Approx 25cm long. Head and arms are copper colored. Back and tail are dark grey with two light stripes on the back flanked by black.

Habitat:

This one lived under and around a pile of boulders near a creek in a alpine/sub alpine forest. Approx 7800ft.
