Good spot Christiane. This can be identified as a male by the pupal exuvia. He has left home in search of a female. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/830...

Females remain inside and remain wingless. It is common for children to collect these and wait, sometimes in vain for a butterfly or moth to emerge - if female, they never do.
