Chilloglottis trapeziformis
Colony forming orchid, approx. 8cm tall, with a pair of opposing leaves. Threatened in the Melbourne area. As for other Chiloglottis sp. this one attracts male wasp's using pheromones for pollination. Pic 4 shows the flower covered in Red Legged Earth Mite, the mite is a agricultural pest that invades disturbed bushland especially when Cape Weed is present. Asteraceae and Fabaceae are particularly vulnerable to Red Legged Earth Mite attack.
