Metallica (no common name)

Arctiidae:Ctenuchinae:Calonotos metallicus

Description:

Beautiful little moth, about 2.75cm. Metallic orange stripes and prominent white spots on an otherwise black moth.

Habitat:

This was in the forested mountains of central Panama.

Notes:

.this individual was drawn to a lighted wall. In researching I found only one other photograph of a specimen from Panama - in a university archive. Seems to be a rare find.
