A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Castor canadensis
Beavers are known for their natural trait of building dams on rivers and streams, and building their homes (known as "lodges") in the resulting pond. This photograph shows the lodge, which is typically made of mud and sticks.
The habitat of the beaver is the riparian zone, inclusive of stream bed. This lodge was found on a small stream that had been dammed by the beavers.
