Botany Bay Diamond Weevil

Chrysolopus spectabilis

Description:

25 mm. standard weevil physique. Black with blue check pattern.

Habitat:

This beetle is on it's food source. An acacia bush within its natural range. The bush is by a community centre and sports oval that has been landscaped with Australian Native plants. The insect population is heavily stressed but seems to be building back to sustainable levels in many species

Notes:

The image has been pushed in a graphics programme to get back definition and colour after the torch and camera blew out the exposure.
