South Indian Rock Agama (female)

Psammophilus dorsalis

Description:

Typical lizard shape with a lovely pattern on the back. I have never seen a prettier pattern on any other lizard. The abdomen seems distended...maybe it is carrying eggs.

Habitat:

Wall of Chitradurga Fort built between the 10th and 18th centuries. It is full of boulders of all sizes and shapes. Lots of reptile species.

Notes:

The male has a fantastic but totally different colouration too. There were many males but I saw only one female. Male: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/156...
