Anolis carolinensis
The Carolina Anole is a small lizard; male adults are usually 6 inches long in adulthood, about half of which is its tail, and it can weigh from 3–7 grams (0.11–0.25 ounce). Exceptionally, these anoles can measure up to 20 centimetres (7.9 inches). This photograph is a male displaying its throat patch.
This species is native to North America, where it is found mainly in the southeastern parts of the continent. Anoles are most abundant on the Atlantic Coastal Plains in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Georgia, and the Gulf Coast in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. This is a wild specimen that was photographed at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC.
Anoles are territorial creatures. Some have even been witnessed fighting their own reflections in mirrored glass. Like many lizards, anoles display autotomic tails to help them escape predation.

very nice, Congratulations on your SOTD, Ken !!
Congratulations Ken, this pretty little exhibitionist has earned you spotting of the day!
The male green anole uses his pink dewlap to display his breeding fitness to prospective mates. It also communicates to other males that they have entered his territory. The species is being displaced from much of its range by introduced exotic anoles who are outcompeting it for food and territory.
