Müller's platanna

Xenopus muelleri

Description:

Very strange looking frog. Xenopus species are entirely aquatic, however I observed this specimen on grass, a few hundred metres from the lake shore. It had been raining a lot at the time. Xenopus species are often used in the lab as research subjects.

Habitat:

lakes, rivers, swamps

Notes:

I spotted this near the lake shore of Lake Malawi.
