There are several species of Floss Silk Tree in Brazil, almost all belonging to the genus "Ceiba" (formerly "Chorisia"), family "Malvaceae" (formerly "Bombacaceae"). Of all, the best known is the kind of Floss Silk Tree is "Ceiba speciosa (St.-Hill.) Ravenna", native in Brazilian forests and Bolivia, initially described as "Chorisia speciosa St. Hilaire, 1828."
