Swamp Milkweed

Asclepias incarnata

Description:

Rosy red and white flowers form several flat cluster, 2-3 inches wide, individual flowers have 5 downward-curving petals and 5 upward petals.

Habitat:

Spotted at Tamarac near the Visitor Center. It grows in areas of wet, sun, swamps, streams, wet meadows.

Notes:

This milkweed has less milky sap than other milkweed. It is a host and nectar plant for Monarchs and a good plant for a butterfly garden
