Variable Cracker

Hamadryas feronia feronia

Description:

I found this specimen at the site of my grandfather. It has the wing with a "missed piece", but flies perfectly.

Habitat:

This species is found in rainforest and deciduous forest habitats at altitudes between 0-1400m. I found this specimen in my grandfather's farm, a region of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.

Notes:

The butterflies are active from sunrise to sunset, and are rarely seen away from tree trunks, but also sometimes bask on rock faces or tree foliage.
