Spotting

Description:

I watched the growth of this fungus for several weeks. It started out looking like a biscuit with jelly, and after a month it had the appearance of overdone pizza.

Habitat:

Found growing at the base of an American sycamore tree in the mulch.

Notes:

It seemed to attract ants and other insects to it.
