Spotting

Description:

About an inch long, VERY aggressive, yellow and black. Looks more wasp than bee. Hovers in mid air. Some people have told us these are hornets. Others say yellow jacket. One stung my baby a few months ago. This one tried to attack us through the door.

Hi Amy
The pictures are a bit fuzzy, but this is almost certainly a fly rather than a wasp or bee. Some of the flies can be pretty good wasp mimics - but are harmless. Problem is sorting out the wasps from the mimics. This is probably a hover fly in the family Syrphidae
