Description:

Bright red flower on a 12" -tall plant.

Habitat:

Douglas fir, arbutus, oak forest in high country up the Rogue River. It gets quite warm in summer (90s).

I thought it was scarlet gilia at first glance but the flower is a little bit different. I think this plant is in the Phlox family though.
