Oenothera biennis
Lemon-scented, 4-petaled, yellow flowers that are hermaphroditic. The flowers are produced on a many-flowered, tall, terminal spike and only bloom at night, closing by noon the next day. Hence the common name "evening primrose."
On the edge of a meadow next to a rural farm.
Evening primrose oil, which has culinary and medicinal applications, is made from this plant.
