Peltoschema nr. orphana

Peltoschema nr. orphana

Description:

A relatively large(7mm) multicolored acacia leaf beetle on a new foodplant. The brown zone shows a novel variation of the typical form.

Habitat:

Feeding on Acacia leprosa along with numerous larvae.

Notes:

The fireblight beetle is a problem species for silver wattle (Acacia dealbata) but this one was found on cinnamon wattle (Acacia leprosa). As the pattern differs only slightly, it may be p. orphana. However, as the beetle is larger, and on a different plant, the larvae are darker, it is possible different.
