Flapneck chameleon

Chamaeleo dilepis

Description:

On a hot dry day, this chameleon was reflecting light as much as the sand was, although his color change wasn't close enough to the sand to prevent us from seeing him. We stopped to look and he scuttled under the game vehicle and needed rescuing. Note his color change as he becomes stressed by my handling

Habitat:

Lake Burunge Camp entrance road

Notes:

Needless to say, everyone in the vehicle wanted to snag a quick pciture before I sent him scuttling into the underbrush, where none of us got any decent shots, as I'd guessed would happen.
