New World Leaf-Nosed Bat

[ Phyllostomidae family ]

Description:

They are ecologically the most varied and diverse family within the order "Chiroptera". Most species are insectivorous, but the phyllostomid bats include within their number true predatory species as well as frugivores

Habitat:

Are found throughout Central and South America, from Mexico to northern Argentina. I found this specimen in a region of transition between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest.

Notes:

I found this species of fruit bat in my grandfather's farm. I found a Site with several bat species from Brazil ( [ http://www.morcegolivre.vet.br/especies.... ] , in PT), but I couldn't identify this specimen...
