Heliconius ismenius
The Tabby Longwing reaches a wingspan from 38.0 to 42.0 millimeters. The body is slender, elongated and thickens towards the end slightly. Small white spots adorn the body surface. The forewings are predominantly black. Orange areas can be show at the wing root. In the front area of the forewing clearly white, oblong patches can be seen. The spots range while zoom almost to the wing edge. The hind wings are colored in orange core. The wing edges are lined with black here. On the outer edge of two small white spots can be seen. The head is characterized by two large, complex eyes, the sensors are of medium length and slightly thickened at the end, and whitish.
The Ismenius Tiger or Tiger Heliconian (Heliconius ismenius) is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family found in Central America and northern South America. They are highly populous as south as Ecuador and Venezuela and as north as southern Mexico, Guatemala and Belize.
