American coots like to flock together. They are not a duck because they have large lobed toes and their legs and feet are green. Slate gray to black in color. White bill with dark band near tip. Female same as male.

Habitat:

These american coots were spotted in the marsh at Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge in Anahuac, Texas
