Description:

Here is a thick petaled purple flower found at the base of the Carson Escarpment. Native to Africa, it was introduced to Australia as a feed for camels as they crossed the desert.

Habitat:

Seasonal grassland.

These were introduced from Africa for feed for camels in the desert because they survive the dry so well. They occur right throughout the dry inland to Victoria.
