American Alligator

Alligator mississippiensis

Description:

Large crocodilian reptile, big teeth and quite ugly as a species goes!! I love these animals!

Habitat:

freshwater wetlands, swamps and marshes from Texas to North Carolina This fellow was spotted sunning himself at the edge of a freshwater pond surrounded with grasses, reeds and shrubs.

Notes:

Interesting that the alligator was accompanied my two moorhens and a near by bul frog, which he completely ignored and they seemed the least bit threatned!
