Long-tailed tit (europaeus subspecies)

Aegithalos caudatus europaeus

Description:

This long tailed tit shows two black bands on the head and is in the subspecies europaeus, found in southern and western Europe, north-east China, and Japan. Spotted together with a bird in the caudatus subspecies. Last shot shows the 2 subspecies together. More information on http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/176...

Habitat:

Remnant forest patch, rural

Notes:

Due to their small size these birds are vulnerable to extreme cold weather, with high population losses seen with prolonged cold. Populations seem to rapidly return to previous levels due to high breeding rates.

I hope it'll attract many little visitors for you Marta :-) As it's starting to warm up now, this will be the last one I put outside for this winter.
