Rosy Skimmer (male)

Orthetrum migratum

Description:

This beautiful Dragonfly is "[r]ed often with slight plum-like bluish tinge" (http://museum.wa.gov.au/_waiss/WA_Dragon... )

Habitat:

Hanging onto a small stick at Galvan's Gorge.

Notes:

I have been to Galvan's Gorge a few times now and this is the first time I have seen this Dragonfly! It looked like it was having a shower in the water splashing from the rocks. After a cracking wet season the waterfall into the Gorge was magic. Reference: http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations...

Great image. I have just seen and photographed a very similar looking species in Sumatra but with more blue/less red on the abdomen. Great spotting!
