Cut-leaf grapefern

Botrychium dissectum var. obliquum

Description:

A small fern with one three-lobed vegetative frond, and, periodically, one fertile frond. Botrychium dissectum can be distinguished from other grapeferns in part because the vegetative frond turn a bronze-like color in the fall.

Habitat:

Moist woods.

Notes:

Please let me know if I'm breaking the rules here. I posted pictures of the same individual plant taken over several months to illustrate the changes in color and the fertile frond. I'll repost for each date separately if necessary. Picture 1: September 23, 2010; green vegetative frond and immature fertile frond Picture 2 and 3: November 29, 2010: bronze vegetative frond and mature fertile frond Picture 4: April 7, 2011: bronze vegetative frond and wilted fertile frond
