I assumed he was dead, there was no movement and he was on what appeared to be his backside. This photo shows the underside of this neat little creature.

Maybe you could have gently turned him over and released him in the sea.Or maybe he will get pulled in by the next tide.They squirt a purple ink is disturbed!Great catch and quite rare too to get a pic like this!

Thank you! I thought it was a sea hare, but wasn't 100% sure. He was washed up on the beach and not moving so I assumed he had just died recently. Beautiful little thing.
