Oleander Hawk Moth Cocoon

Daphnis nerii

Description:

This cocoon looks similar to the photos I posted previously of the Oleander Hawk Moth cocoon (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/182...) except this one is darker in color and has a black covering on part of the cocoon which you can see at the top of the coocoon in this photo. This is the fourth cocoon I collected 09/07/2015 under or near the Madagascar Rosy Periwinkle plant, where I found the other three cocoons. Perhaps this one is a male and other three are females or vice-versa

Habitat:

Small garden area under and around a Madagascar Rosy Periwinkle plant.
