Timber Rattlesnake

Crotalus horridus

Description:

Tan body with orange dorsal stripe and black chevrons along the back. This is the only individual of this species I have ever had even rattle at me, they are normally very calm and rarely attempt to bite. The last photo shows where he was when I originally found him.

Habitat:

Found along a trail in a wildlife management area. Was hanging out in the trunk of a downed oak tree in a moderately wooded forest.
