Lepus americanus
seen on the forest floor. is this a jack rabbit?
By the ears or hind feet
You can only tell if it's a snowshoe by theses and hind feet.
If it is a snowshoe it's not a rabbit.
This was a large rabbit. Larger than any cottontails I have seen. Could this be snowshoe hare in its summer coat?
Definitely not a jack rabbit, but can't help you out with the cottontails. Most of them you can only tell apart by examining the skull or just by making an educated guess off of habitat.
Might be a snowshoe but again the ears will shorter then a Cottonatil and feet like a Jackrabbit
Jackrabbits usually have longer faces and the ears are almost 1.5 times the length of the head.
