Trachylepsis striata
Gorgeous big striped skink, this one 20-25cm long. Pale underbelly, darker on top, distrinctive beige stripe from the eye fading down the back. Very common in urban Tanzania, also in the wild.
In urban environment always seen in 'stuff' bricks and woodpiles and construction sites and fences and drain pipes and ledges. In the bush have seen in logs and around rocks and in crevices etc.
Very handsome skink, very shy of people, but very adapted to urban life. As with most everything I find, it is the 'common' variety of skink around town.
