White-moustached Portia

Portia labiata

Description:

This species is a predator that specialized in hunting other spiders. Male, about 8mm. Spiders of this genus are known as the most intelligent spiders for their ability to plan their strategy in capturing preys. Their slow and shaky movement with appearance looking like forest detritus help them to camouflage well to avoid detection from preys and predators. Watch how it moves - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QC-aNPT...

Habitat:

On the Canopy Bridge in Tawau Hills Park, Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 3km radius. This is my best spotting of a Portia spider. I was very glad to be able to spot this with Dan. Do take a look at my first Portia spotting - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/114...
