Cellar Spider

Cantikus sp.

A female Cellar Spider - Cantikus sp., with her brood of eggs. This Spiders are super slim and tiny, and even though the females are bigger than male, this female has body length of less than 1 cm and body width with or just around 1 - 1.5 mm. They have very long scrawny legs of 3-4 cm. This female seems to have tiny black markings on her head that makes it looks like she is smiling :D

Tropical forest.

The genus Cantikus was created in 2018, derived from Bahasa Malaysia word, Cantik, which means beautiful. There are several species of Cantikus species documented from Malaysia and they have beautiful markings on their abdomen and head.
