Western Giant Swallowtail

Papilio rumiko

Description:

Large butterfly of about 10-12cm wingspan. Black colouration with yellow markings and stripes on wings and body; the hind wing also features red/orange spots and small blue crescent shapes. From what I can tell, those spots and crescents on the underside of the hind wings differentiate this species from other similar ones.

Habitat:

City park in semi-arid climate, at about 1800 metres above sea level.
