White-tailed deer

Odocolieus virginianus

Description:

medium sized deer

Habitat:

Centeral and North America, woodlands, coastal dunes, marshes, wetlands, common in eastern US. This sighting was on the fringe of an inland wooded area about 300 yards from a fresh water pond and perhaps a half mile from a wetlands area. The exact geographical location can be seen in the "where did you find it" block.

Notes:

This small group of 5 deer were on the side of a backcountry road. They were grazing and it appeared to be 2 adult does and 3 yearlings.

Nice spotting. General habitat information is widely available on many species, but information on your spotting is unique and can only be provided by you! "Please state the actual habitat where you photographed the spotting..." FAQs http://www.projectnoah.org/faq Thank you.
